I’m usually critical of ad campaigns produced by Crispin Porter + Bogusky, the agency Burger King and Microsoft use. This Whopper marketing video is unusual for its cross-cultural approach. That I like. Clearly people who have never seen a hamburger go oddly together with the Whopper.
But there are negative anthropological, cultural-pollution aspects that bug me. The marketing video and supporting Website demonstrate lack of understanding or respect for the people and cultures highlighted. Hello! These are people, not animals.
However, Americans are so damn clueless about other countries and cultures, this taste test might be the only real exposure they ever get to them.
