Microsoft’s fourth retail store launch surprised for who waited in the long line for the grand opening. Rather than geeks, Microsoft primarily attracted teen and tween girls—some boys, too. They came for the celebrities and freebees: Demi Lovato concert tix (for show outside Fashion Valley Mall tomorrow), meetup with Street Leaguers Chris Cole and Paul Rodriguez and free T-Shirts, laptops, Xbox games and much more.

The interview here is typical of those I conducted outside Microsoft Store before its opening at 10 a.m. PT on June 24, 2010: Teen girls, near front of line. I removed a section where the girls cut up too much. Backstory: The mother of the first girl interviewed “adopted” the two other 15 year-olds, whose parents let them camp out overnight at the mall. This is the second in a series of interviews from the Microsoft Store opening and iPhone 4 launch, which occurred on the same day just a few stores away. Please listen to the first interview, too.
